The Voice of the Midget Wrestling Warriors

The overhead lights glisten on a sparkling sequined golden sportscoat. The march to the ring is deliberate and with purpose.  With the intensity of a #1 contender on his way to attempt to wrestle the World Championship belt away from the Champion, he enters the ring.  However, he is not here to deliver clotheslines or body slams.

If you have attended a Midget Wrestling Warriors' show in recent years, you have, no doubt, heard the hyped up voice of the one-and-only Scotty Sweatervest!

Scotty is the ring announcer for the Midget Wrestling Warriors and he gets the crowd pumped up and ready for the show with a passion that's beyond compare.

With an energetic delivery, Scotty introduces each of our Midget Wrestling Warriors as they make their way to the ring and he does it with style and class.

In high school, Scotty took a test to determine what his future career path should be and his results indicated that he should be into entertainment.  Whether it should be acting, broadcasting or something along those lines, it was determined that he should be some form of entertainer.  So, straight out of high school, Scotty got a job with a local radio station.  About a year-and-a-half later, the wrestling company ECCW was running a show in his area.  They came into the radio station to do interviews and give away tickets for show promotion.  While they were at the studios, Scotty mentioned to them that, if they were in need of a ring announcer, he'd totally be up for it.  They gave him the details for the event and he had his first pro wrestling ring announcing gig.  After the show, they thought Scotty was pretty good and invited him back to perform again the following month.  From that day forward, his career as a ring announcer has continued and he has evolved into one of the top voices in professional wrestling today.  22+ years later, Scotty is the voice of the Midget Wrestling Warriors and we are very proud to have him as an integral part of the MWW family.

So, where did the Sweatervest name come from?

It all began back with those first few ECCW shows.  Scotty, wanting to look his absolute best for his ring appearances, just happened to wear a sweatervest to each of those shows.

"After a few shows, I came out to the ring to start the show and the crowd began chanting 'Sweatervest!'  After the show, promoter Michelle Starr came up to me and said 'Kid...go buy yourself a bunch of sweatervests.  I don't ever want to see you come out to the ring in anything other than a sweatervest.'  And thus, Scotty Sweatervest was "born".

Over the years, the sweatervests have grown more loud and obnoxious and he says he has a huge closet full of them.  Scotty doesn't wear the sweatervests much when performing with the Midget Wrestling Warriors.

"I prefer to be a bit more formal for the Warriors' shows, hence the sequined golden jacket I don for MWW shows.  Wrestling is supposed to be fun so let's be bright, loud and flashy and we can all have a great time!"

Taking The Sweatervest On The Road

Through wrestling, Scotty Sweatervest has had the opportunity to go out on the road and perform.  He has toured quite extensively throughout the United States.

"I've performed up and down the west coast of the United States.  I also lived in Florida for about a year so I worked there, too.  I've done shows in Ohio and that mid-west area of the country.  I probably haven't worked in as many places as I would have liked to over the years but I've definitely done some travelling and I've enjoyed every second of it!"

Scotty always has a lot of fun when introducing the Midget Wrestling Warriors at our events and he treats every match as a main event.

He's also had the pleasure of introducing some legends from his youth as they made their way to the squared circle.

"I've had the pleasure of introducing Honky Tonk Man several times.  He's always a blast and so much fun to be around!"

"One of the hilights of my career was doing ring announcing and commentary for an NWA World's Heavyweight Title match between Adam Pearce and Vance Nevada.  It was one of those "phantom title changes" that got reversed the next day due to shenanigans.  It was a huge honor and I still get goosebumps when I think back to that show and all of the events surrounding that title match.  What an amazing experience."

"It used to be that I wanted to be out every weekend doing everything but I've got a family and everything now and I'm good with scaling some of the wrestling duties back a little bit."

"When I was younger and totally driven to do that, I had aspirations to work in WWE someday but now, partly being older...partly that I just want to have fun...I've had some good things happen in wrestling and that's enough for me to say 'Ok...I'm good.'  Now, for me, it's all about having fun and I'm having a blast with the Midget Wrestling Warriors!"

With the pandemic altering the landscape of the world and professional wrestling, more specifically, Scotty's ring announcing calendar may not be quite as full as it had been in years past, however, with the current Midget Wrestling Warriors Evolution Tour in full-swing, he's had a busy 2022!  Be sure to come out and see Scotty Sweatervest and all of the stars of Midget Wrestling Warriors when the 2022 Evolution Tour comes to your area!

IT'S MIDGET TIME!
