CHASING THE ULTIMATE PRIZE

When many people meet Midget Wrestling Warrior Zoey Skye, they assume that because she's young that she is new to the professional wrestling business.  However, their assumptions would be incorrect.

"I began my training in November of 2006 at Cleveland All Pro Wrestling under the watchful eyes of Johnny Gargano and JT Lightning.  There weren't a lot of female wrestlers in the area at the time so, as soon as I was ready, I was thrown into the mix and debuted six months after I began training." Skye said when I recently sat down to talk with her.

That first match came in early 2007, making Zoey a 15-year veteran of the squared circle.

The hard-hitting Warrior wants fans to know that when she steps into the ring, it's not going to be a novelty match and she and her fellow female Warriors are not just in the ring for their looks.

"Every match, my focus is to perform at my absolute best and show up the guys and prove that we belong on the card and that we can main event any show in the country.  We're in there to put on the best match possible...the kind of match that the fans of Midget Wrestling Warriors have come to expect and I will stop at nothing to ensure that is what the fans see every time I step into the ring.  You can be sure of that!"

The wrestling business has changed drastically in recent years and, no longer considered a novelty act or special attraction, the women are tearing it up in the ring and are among the top stars in the world of wrestling.

"Women are becoming the selling point of many shows because there are so many incredibly talented women out there now.  I'm so thrilled to be here as a part of Midget Wrestling Warriors to be a part of such a talented Women's division.  It's fantastic!"

A Taste Of The MWW Gold

It wasn't long into her tenure at Midget Wrestling Warriors when Zoey Skye won her first MWW Women's World Championship when she defeated inaugural MWW Women's champion Danika Della Rouge and Valentina Loca in a triple-threat match at Land of Illusion Theme Park in Middletown, Ohio.  It was a very hard-fought battle between the champion and her two top contenders and Skye came out on top and became the new MWW Women's champion.

Zoey Skye regained the MWW Women's Title in a hard-fought contest over Valentina Loca at Amador Live! in Las Cruces, New Mexico in March of 2022 in front of a huge crowd who were strongly behind Loca, a native of New Mexico.

Her title reign was short-lived, however, as she was defeated by Danika Della Rouge two days later at Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville, Oregon in front of another sell out crowd.

Losing her title does not sit well with Skye and she has vowed to take back what is rightfully hers.

This past week, Skye came up short against current MWW Women's World Champion Danika Della Rouge at  First Arena in Elmira, New York.  The match was action-packed and saw Skye come within inches of regaining the title from Della Rouge.

Zoey Skye has had the opportunity to travel to several countries during her career and looks forward to seeing more of the world.

"I have wrestled in the United Kingdom as well as twice in Japan.  Two years ago, I wrestled in Toronto, Ontario and I would love to see more of Canada and wrestle for more fans North of the border.  I love to travel."

Although, she is currently embracing her role as a "heel" (bad) wrestler, she enjoys playing the roles of both "heel" and "babyface".

"I enjoy wrestling so much and I absolutely love the crowd reaction.  I love to see smiles on people's faces and the reaction by the crowd to what I do in the ring is awesome!  I have typically been in the babyface role on the past so playing the heel now is a fun change of pace."

Although Skye admits that her vocabulary contains some less-than family-friendly language, she does her absolute best to keep it PG-13 while trash talking the Midget Wrestling Fans who dare to boo her in the ring.

"I'm definitely careful in front of kids when it comes to what I say.  It's a family-friendly show and I am very mindful of that when I'm talking to the crowd.  On that note, I have been flipped off and sworn at by many kids at shows so I guess I'm doing my job well!" Zoey said with a laugh.

When wrapping up our time together, I asked Zoey what her plans are for getting her Midget Wrestling Warriors Women's World Championship back.

"I can't give away my secrets!  However, getting back MY MWW Women's Title is definitely my primary intent and goal.  We have a great group of girls and Midget Wrestling Warriors is building a phenomenal women's division.  We truly have a wonderful opportunity to present something very unique and exciting for the fans and we're more than ready for the challenge.  I'm not sure yet when my next title opportunity will come but I can guarantee you that I'll take full advantage of that opportunity when it arises.  That title is mine and it won't be long before that beautiful belt is back around my waist where it belongs!"
